Is Dewey Beach or Rehoboth better?

Rehoboth Beach is more upscale than Dewey Beach. It has some quaint little shops that line Rehoboth Avenue, the Penny Lane Mall and the Village by the Sea Shops. In addition to the beach/swimming, there is Funland and Ryan's Mini-golf on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk.

Dewey Beach is located just to the south of Rehoboth on the Atlantic Ocean. It's smaller than its neighbor and is the youngest of the surrounding beach towns. Despite its size, Dewey Beach has a big reputation as a party town, especially for college kids looking to bar hop.

Ocean City has a more extensive selection of accomodations, amusements, larger boardwalk, etc. It's much bigger with block after block of hi-rise mega hotels & condos. By contrast, Rehoboth has just a few hi-rise hotels but many B&B's & traditional cottages, some on wooded streets just a short walk from the ocean.

Yes it is a free beach. You have to pay for parking if you are not staying at one of the hotels or rentals. It is $15 for a day pass and there are some hourly. After 5 it is free Monday-Wednesday.
