Is Disney changing Genie Plus in 2024?

Genie+ Changes Coming in 2024 Earlier in 2023, Disney said, “We have heard from guests that they would like ways to plan with Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane selections before the day of their park visit, and we want you to know we are working on ways guests may do this for visits in 2024.”

Yes, Disney implemented a massive overhaul of the Genie+ system in mid-2024, essentially retiring the name. The service was rebranded to Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and the former "Individual Lightning Lane" became Lightning Lane Single Pass. The most significant change in 2024–2025 was the return of advance planning. Unlike the old Genie+ system where you had to wait until 7:00 AM on the day of your visit, guests at Walt Disney World can now book their selections up to 7 days in advance if staying at a Disney Resort, or 3 days in advance for other guests. This change was designed to reduce "early morning screen time" and bring back the pre-trip anticipation of the old FastPass+ system. In 2026, this system is now the standard, with a tiered selection process that allows you to secure three attractions per day before you even leave home, making the park day significantly less stressful for families.
