While many long-time fans miss the "free" aspect of the old FastPass, Disney has stated the new system allows them to better manage crowd flow and staffing. In 2026, the only "free" way to skip lines is through a Virtual Queue, which is used for select new attractions and requires guests to join via the app at exactly 7:00 AM or 1:00 PM. Essentially, the "FastPass" era is over, replaced by a more complex, digital-first system where speed and convenience now come with a variable daily price tag.
