In our experience, the parking lots at the parks open at least 30 and often an hour before the park opens to the first guests (e.g. an hour before Early Entry most days). For these reasons, having a car makes it much easier to control your arrival time for rope drop at Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios.
