As of March 2026, Disney is not "taking down" the physical structure of the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, but the iconic Aerosmith-themed version of the attraction has officially ended its 27-year run. The ride closed on March 1, 2026, to undergo a massive multi-month transformation into Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. This new iteration of the high-speed indoor coaster will feature the Muppets' house band, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, taking over the "super-stretch limo" journey through Los Angeles. While the track layout and the intense 0-to-57 mph launch are expected to remain the same, the music, pre-show videos, and internal neon signage are being completely replaced with Muppet-centric humor and soundtracks. This change follows years of speculation regarding Disney's licensing agreement with Aerosmith and a desire to integrate more Disney-owned intellectual property into Hollywood Studios. The Muppets-themed version is currently scheduled to "take its first lap" and reopen to the public in Summer 2026.
