Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is significantly larger than Disneyland Resort in California. While Disneyland covers approximately 480 to 510 acres (less than one square mile), Walt Disney World spans a massive 25,000 to 27,000 acres (roughly 39 to 43 square miles), which is about the size of San Francisco or twice the size of Manhattan. This scale allows Disney World to house four theme parks, two water parks, over 30 hotels, and a massive shopping district (Disney Springs), whereas Disneyland features two theme parks and three hotels within a walkable footprint. The size difference profoundly impacts the guest experience; Disneyland is often praised for its charm and ease of navigation, while Disney World is a multi-day immersive destination that requires a complex internal transportation system of buses, monorails, boats, and skyliner gondolas to move between its various "kingdoms."
