In terms of physical land area, Dollywood is significantly larger than the Magic Kingdom, but the "usable" theme park space is surprisingly comparable. Dollywood, located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, spans approximately 160 acres of developed park space, while the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World is roughly 107 to 142 acres (depending on whether you count the backstage moats and hub areas). However, the experience of the size is very different; Dollywood's layout is much more spread out with significant elevation changes and "natural" wooded areas between the lands, making it feel more like a hike through a mountain village. Magic Kingdom is much more densely packed with attractions and "stages" for entertainment. In 2026, Dollywood has expanded its "Wildwood Grove" area, further increasing its footprint. While Dollywood covers more ground, Magic Kingdom remains the king of "density," packing more rides and shows into its smaller, circular "hub-and-spoke" design. If you're planning a visit, wear your best walking shoes for both, but prepare for more "hill-climbing" at Dolly's mountain retreat.
