September is typically a slower time at Disney World, but since the International Food and Wine Festival kicks off this month, Epcot is quite crowded this time of year. If you genuinely want to avoid a packed park, January and February are the best times to visit.

Regardless of how you choose to spend your day, Epcot is a wonderful place to visit alone. Many locals use the sights and sounds as a backdrop for creative projects from writing to drawing, and may never visit a single attraction on any given day. Others visit in the evening, just to shop, dine, and see Illuminations.
Our family loves Epcot and finds there's so much to do for both adults and children. On our last family trip, we spent a full day in the park and had a wonderful time. One-day, one-park tickets cost my family of four about $500. We also purchased Genie+ for about $20 a person so we could ride more attractions.
Go to Universal Studios, you will have a half day of thrills and spills that you would have to spend 2 days at Epcot to achieve. Epcot is also an amazing experience but it does need more than 1 visit. Agreed if you are looking for rides and thrills...
As a general matter, Animal Kingdom is the park that requires the least strategy and is the easiest place to beat the crowds in all of Walt Disney World. It doesn't require Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lanes, and is pretty easy to knock out everything–and then some–if you stay for a full day.
