Is Expedition Everest broken?

Expedition Everest is Very Broken Eventually, the ride corrects itself and goes forward again. However, it leaves people wondering how Disney can look past such a serious flaw in the track design and put people in danger. Of course, this isn't the only thing broken on Expedition Everest.

As of late February 2026, Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain at Disney's Animal Kingdom is currently operating, though it is undergoing "rolling" refurbishments. This means parts of the queue or loading station may be under scrims for maintenance, but the ride itself remains open to guests. However, if you are referring to the Yeti animatronic, it is still technically "broken" and has been for over 15 years. Due to a major structural fissure in the figure's concrete foundation, the Yeti cannot move in its "A-mode" without risking damage to the mountain structure. It remains in "B-mode," commonly known as "Disco Yeti," where strobe lights are used to create the illusion of movement. While the ride is functional, there are no immediate plans to "fix" the Yeti's full range of motion due to the extreme cost and downtime required.
