Is Flight of Passage a scary ride?

Is Avatar Flight of Passage scary? Not really. There are some gasp moments in the ride—two immediately come to mind—but I wouldn't go so far as to call the ride scary.

Flight of Passage is a simulator type ride with soaring heights, drops, and quick turns. There's definitely a chance motion sickness will occur. The flying sensation feels very real, including a moment where the virtual banshee goes “upside down.” This is just simulated, the ride vehicle itself does not go upside down.

It can cause quite extreme motion sickness (I have seen this, not pleasant) so if anyone is inclined towards this, I wouldn't do it. There is nothing scary about the ride itself unless you have claustrophobia. The restraints are pretty restrictive. If she's not tall enough, she doesn't ride.

For safety, you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride.

Choose a window seat on flights and trains. If possible, try lying down, shutting your eyes, sleeping, or looking at the horizon. Stay hydrated by drinking water. Limit alcoholic and caffeinated beverages.

One year olds are often highly mobile yet totally uncontrollable, making for a potentially dangerous travel combination. At this age, children are still too young to understand and follow instructions, so discipline is ineffective. Distraction and maybe bribery are really your only tools!

A good investment, you save a couple hours for around $14. Flight of Passage really took me on a journey. I'd go back to Animal Kingdom just for this ride.

The cars are designed for only one person per seat, but the lap bar will keep him in the seat securely. I have nephews who rode Space Mtn. when they were only 6 and 5 years old, and they did fine.

The minimum height requirement for Expedition Everest is 44 inches, so hopefully your daughter is that tall. My daughter loves roller coasters too and she impatiently waited to be tall enough to ride Expedition Everest.

A tall 3-year-old should also be a fairly mature and brave 3-year-old to enjoy this ride. We suggest you ride one time for yourself if you have any concerns about the suitability of this attraction for your family. As far as an age rating, we also suggest most kids be at least 6 years old before riding this attraction.
