Is Ford Island open to the public?

Ford Island is an active duty military installation and as such, reservations via recreation.gov are required and are non-transferable. A government issued ID is required at check in.

Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum is located on historic Ford Island, an active military base that is accessed by shuttle bus from the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Free shuttles depart approximately every 15 minutes from the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

Some guests prefer to visit Pearl Harbor on their own. They arrive before 6 am to ensure that they have a chance to get some of the limited tickets that are reserved for those without advanced reservations. Individuals may also reserve tickets in advance on recreation.gov.
