Is Fort Myers Beach open after hurricane?

Eight months after Hurricane Ian, most beaches and hotels are open in Fort Myers. SAN ANTONIO -- Almost 70% of hotel rooms in Fort Myers are open again, eight months after Hurricane Ian made landfall on Florida's west coast as a Category 4 storm.

The City of Sanibel is excited to announce that all public access beach park locations in Sanibel are now open to the public. The city announced on Thursday that the following areas are set to open Friday, June 30: Bayside parking lot at 110 – 153 Periwinkle Way for Lighthouse Beach Park.

Traffic will be permitted onto Bonita Beach between the hours of 7 AM and 7 PM. Residents, contractors, and business owners are permitted on the beach. There is no access from Bonita Beach to Fort Myers Beach, traffic should reroute.
