Is Hard Rock Universal good for kids?

If it's location your family is after, Hard Rock is the closest to the theme parks, just a 5-minute walk to Universal Studios. We love Hard Rock because it really is unique in the way that it caters to kids and adults.

The Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando is an excellent choice for kids, particularly those in the "tween" and teen categories, though it caters well to younger children too. Its greatest "family" perk is that staying here includes free Universal Express Unlimited passes, allowing the whole family to skip the regular lines at most attractions in Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. The pool area is a standout for children, featuring a 260-foot sand-bottom pool with an underwater sound system and a large water slide. For younger kids, the hotel offers "Camp Lil' Rock," a supervised activity center, and character dining opportunities. The rooms are spacious, often featuring "Future Rock Star" themed suites with separate sleeping areas for kids. While the hotel has a high-energy, "cool" vibe that appeals to adults, the 1-minute walk or short water taxi ride to the parks makes it incredibly convenient for families who need to return to the room for mid-day naps or a quick change of clothes.

Disney World has more for younger kids. If you're planning a once-in-a-few-years vacation, you probably want your little one to get to experience a variety of experiences with you, and Disney World—specifically Magic Kingdom—offers much more for the littlest ones than Universal.

When it comes to which Harry Potter park is better at Universal, Diagon Alley in Islands of Adventure is the clear winner. They have more shops, more merchandise, and the fun of trading your money for Gringotts bank notes. Plus, the younger kids will love the stuffed animals at the Magical Menagerie!

That said, Wizarding World (like most of the rides at Universal Studios) is probably best suited for kids 7 & up. Kids who are already well-versed in all things Potter will have the best time since every nook and cranny is inspired by J.K. Rowling's sprawling imagination.

Volcano Bay, Universal's most modern park, is fantastic for teens. It's a fully fledged water park, guaranteed to delight, soak and provide entertainment until the sun goes down.

Despite pre-ride warnings about high-speed thrills, Escape from Gringotts is a family coaster that most visitors, other than those with excessive scaredy-cat tendencies, should be able to tolerate and enjoy. It is most certainly not too scary for children.

There is one decent drop near the beginning of the ride. Official stats about its height or length are unknown (Universal remains mum on a lot if its ride specs), but estimates put it around 30 feet tall.

Another very popular question we receive is, is Disney or Universal Cheaper? And as a general rule of thumb, Universal is cheaper than Disney in almost every category, from tickets to theme park food, and the most noticeable being hotel rooms.

At Universal, the wait times can be long for the bigger roller coasters, but the parks themselves are generally much less crowded. There's usually more room to space out and breathe without other guests crowding around you.

Cons: The rides are fun however, the 3D rides have so much jolting and visual affects, if you get motion sickness in any way, these rides could make you sick. After Harry Potter, Transformers and the Studio Tour, I couldn't handle anymore than that. Everything is very expensive, including getting into the park.
