Is Harmony of the Seas a newer ship?

Launched in June 2016, Harmony of the Seas is the world's largest cruise ship.

Harmony of the Seas is no longer considered a "new" ship, although it remains one of the most modern and technologically advanced vessels in the global cruise fleet. Launched in 2016 as part of Royal Caribbean's Oasis Class, it held the title of the world's largest cruise ship at the time of its debut. Since then, it has been surpassed by its sister ships: Symphony of the Seas (2018), Wonder of the Seas (2022), Utopia of the Seas (2024), and the massive Icon Class ships like Icon of the Seas. In 2026, Harmony is classified as a "mid-life" vessel that has undergone routine dry-dock maintenance to keep its amenities, such as the Ultimate Abyss slide and the AquaTheater, in top condition. While it lacks some of the newest "Icon-class" innovations, it is often seen as a better value option for families because it offers roughly 90% of the same "Mega-ship" features at a significantly lower price point than the brand-new flagship vessels.
