One of the most popular closures that is taking place at both Universal Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida is Hogwarts Express. The Hogwarts Express is scheduled for a brief closure from December 10 to December 16, 2023.



The Hogwarts Express at Universal Orlando Resort is not closing permanently, but it does undergo periodic scheduled maintenance. In early 2026, the attraction was temporarily closed for a two-week period from February 9th through February 23rd, 2026, for routine technical servicing. This is a common occurrence for the ride due to its complex cable-pull system and high daily usage. During these maintenance windows, guests with Park-to-Park tickets must walk between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure via the main entrances in CityWalk, as the train is the only internal connection between the two parks. Rumors of a permanent closure are typically unfounded; the train remains a flagship experience and a vital logistical tool for the resort. With the opening of Universal Epic Universe in May 2025, which features its own Harry Potter land (Ministry of Magic), the original Hogwarts Express continues to be a high-demand attraction for fans wanting to travel between Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.

If you're absent for too long, I assume that an owl or teacher comes to check in on you. As for alternative means of travel, if it's an emergency, you may hail the Knight Bus and ask to be taken to Hogwarts. It will not be a pleasant ride by any means, but you'll be there quickly.

It is a spooky/scary queue and coaster which makes it really cool and omnious which will build suspense, don't let it deter you! You can absolutely, 100% ride the Mummy if you enjoy Hagrids and Gringotts and I would highly recommend you do.
