If it's your first trip to the Maldives staying in an overwater villa is probably the best option. It's a major bucket list experience so it's one you don't want to miss. That being said, beach villas are in no way a second-tier option.

Both types of villas have the same interior layout. Lagoon Overwater is located on Lagoon side facing part of the lagoon and island. Ocean Overwater is located on ocean side and will have clear ocean view with privacy from the island, and they are closer to our house reef.
