Generally, it is cheaper to stay in Kissimmee than in the city of Orlando, particularly for families and large groups. Kissimmee is located just south of Orlando and is the "Gateway to Disney," offering a massive inventory of vacation home rentals and "condo-hotels" that provide more square footage for a lower price than traditional hotels. While Orlando’s "International Drive" (I-Drive) is packed with high-end resorts and expensive boutique hotels, Kissimmee’s US-192 corridor is lined with budget-friendly motels and value-oriented resorts. Furthermore, because Kissimmee is in Osceola County, it sometimes has slightly lower tourist taxes compared to Orange County (where Orlando is located). You also save on food costs in Kissimmee because many of the accommodations include full kitchens, allowing you to avoid expensive theme park meals. However, you must factor in transportation: while Kissimmee is closer to Disney World, it is further from Universal Studios and the airport, so a rental car or higher Uber fares might offset some of your lodging savings if you aren't careful.
