Azerbaijan is overall a safe country to visit. Still, you should always be careful and not walk around alone at night, or carry large sums of money as incidents could still occur. It's easy and I would say that most people would probably enjoy Tbilisi more than Yerevan. But Yerevan was (for us) a more cultural experience and we felt a deeper connection to the city. Armenia is relatively inexpensive compared to European countries, Russia, the USA, etc. For example, you can taste traditional Armenian dishes in restaurants for around $15-20, or visit museums for $5 per ticket. The pubs, bars or cafés are also very affordable, even if right in the city center.
The country is known for its hospitality and friendly locals, and the crime rate is low. Women should take the same precautions as they would in any other country, such as avoiding walking alone at night and being aware of their surroundings. Additionally, it is recommended to dress modestly and respect local customs.
Is Armenia safe to visit? Yes, it is safe to solo travel in Armenia but you may encounter difficulties with the language barrier outside of the cities. For us, Georgia was more scenic than Armenia, but enjoyed the 2 of them. The beauty of both is there's some wonderful natural wonders that aren't always easy to get to, meaning there's fewer tourists. Mountains are higher in Georgia, the food is better there two,, but Armenia has more interesting history and monuments.
The best time to explore Armenia is from May to September, as it rarely rains at this time and the temperatures are the most pleasant. July and August are the warmest months, while January is the coldest. July also has the most hours of sunshine, as the sun shines here for a full 11.6 hours a day.
Avoid large public gatherings and exercise heightened caution in locations where foreigners may gather. Violent crime is rare in Azerbaijan, but foreigners have reported serious crimes, including home burglaries, robbery and assault. Be alert when walking after dark, including near hotels and residential areas.
