Is it safe to drink tap water at Disney resorts?

The water from the rooms is safe to drink directly from the faucet. The drinking water onboard the ships is either obtained from the local authorities in the ships' home ports or made onboard the cruise ship in their desalination process. This process removes dissolved salts and other impurities from the water.

Yes, the tap water at all Walt Disney World and Disneyland resorts is technically safe to drink and meets all federal and state EPA standards for water quality. The water in Orlando, however, is often criticized by guests for its distinctive "swampy" or sulfuric taste and smell, which is a result of the local aquifer and the chlorination process used for disinfection. While it is perfectly safe for consumption, many guests prefer the taste of filtered water. In 2026, Disney has significantly expanded the number of free water bottle refilling stations throughout the parks and resorts to encourage sustainability. If you are sensitive to the taste of tap water, a simple "Brita" style filtered bottle or a hydration pack is a popular "pro" tip to save money on expensive bottled water (often $5.00+) while ensuring you stay hydrated during the hot Florida or California afternoons.
