Is it worth it to join the Qantas Club?

If you fly Qantas frequently, you may be able to use your loyalty points to purchase a membership. In addition to lounge access, being a Qantas Club member will allow you extra luggage allowance, flight upgrades with the use of Qantas points, and priority waitlist and airport standby when available.

Joining the Qantas Club is generally "worth it" if you fly with Qantas or Jetstar at least 10 to 12 times a year and do not already hold Gold or Platinum frequent flyer status. The membership, which costs around $600 to $900 (including joining fees) as of 2026, provides access to dedicated lounges with free food, premium alcohol, high-speed Wi-Fi, and showers. For business travelers, the quiet environment and "work stations" pay for themselves in productivity. Additionally, members get priority check-in and extra baggage allowances on international flights. However, if you only fly a few times a year, you are better off buying "single-use" lounge passes (approx. $50) or using a credit card that offers two free lounge invitations annually. With Qantas' 2026 loyalty shakeup, status "rollovers" and ground-based earning have made it easier to earn status naturally, so consider if you'll reach "Gold" (which includes free membership) before paying the upfront fee.

We value that haul at roughly $5,400.00, which is quite significant! That's enough to fly one person return (or two people one-way) in Qantas Business Class between Australia and London. Or if domestic travel is more your thing, you could get up to 37 one-way Economy reward seats on shorter domestic routes.

Every traveler has different needs and expectations, so determining which lounge is worth the money can be very subjective. If a status climber or frequent flier is loyal to a certain airline or credit card, for instance, they'll likely choose those lounges over the others.
