Is jewelry cheaper in Grand Cayman?

Grand Cayman shopping is duty-free, which means great savings can be made on items such as watches, china, crystal, perfumes, luxury cosmetics and fine jewellery (including jewellery made from authentic treasure coins). In fact, prices can be as much as 30-percent less expensive here.

Grand Cayman is world-renowned as a premier destination for luxury shopping, and in 2026, jewelry is often 20% to 30% cheaper than in the United States or Europe. This significant price difference is primarily because the Cayman Islands are a duty-free and tax-free jurisdiction. There is no import duty on fine jewelry, watches, or gemstones, and the islands do not impose a Sales Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), or Goods and Services Tax (GST). Consequently, high-end retailers in the George Town shopping district, such as Kirk Freeport and Island Plaza, can offer global luxury brands like Rolex, Cartier, and Breitling at prices that reflect the "raw" retail value without the government markups found elsewhere. Furthermore, many jewelers offer "island-exclusive" designs and rare gemstones like Caymanite, a local semi-precious stone. While the savings are genuine, U.S. citizens should keep in mind their home country's customs exemptions—currently $800 per person—and be prepared to declare their purchases upon re-entry to ensure they are taking full advantage of the legal savings offered by the island's unique economic status.

You won't need water shoes most places on Grand Cayman, and certainly not in front of the Plantana. That is a good pick, BTW. Well-run place on a great part of the beach. Beach shoes are cheap and easy to pack.
