Is Lake Como fresh or salt water?

Located near Milan, the serene waters of the glacial Lake Como in Italy makes for the deepest freshwater lake in the country and has a distinctive shape resembling the stem of a catapult. The lake is surrounded by a number of resort villages that provide one with classy hotels and vistas.

In general, with the exception of the Como area, swimming is possible in most of the lake. But be careful, because swimming in Lake Como is not without risk, mainly for two reasons: the water temperature is generally lower than that of the sea, and if you dive when it is very hot outside, your body may suffer.
