Is Luzern Interlaken Express included in Swiss Pass?

This route is fully included in the Swiss Travel Pass (Flex), the GA (General Abonnement) and the Tell-Pass (2 to 10-day ticket for Central Switzerland). As the owner of one of these passes, you do not need to buy a transport ticket. To reserve a seat only, select "Reservation only" in the booking process.

Yes, the Luzern-Interlaken Express is fully included in the Swiss Travel Pass as of 2026. This panoramic train is part of the "GoldenPass Line" and is considered a standard regional service, meaning you can simply hop on and show your digital pass to the conductor. While the fare itself is 100% covered, seat reservations are optional but highly recommended during the peak summer and winter seasons (usually costing about CHF 12–16). If you have a 2nd Class Swiss Travel Pass and wish to sit in the 1st Class panoramic carriages, you must pay a "Class Upgrade" fee at the station or via the SBB app before boarding. The journey takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes, crossing the Brünig Pass and offering stunning views of Lake Brienz and various waterfalls. Since it runs hourly, it is one of the most accessible and popular "premium" experiences for passholders, providing a seamless link between two of Switzerland’s most iconic tourism hubs without the need for a separate ticket.

Luzern is more comfortable, old money and beautiful setting on the lake. Interlaken is closer to the big mountains, hiking, etc. I prefer Interlaken, but Luzern is more comfortable for first time to Switzerland. I would not want to spend 4 hours on the train to commute from one to the other however.
