Is May a good month to go to Disney World?

Tips for Disney World in May Memorial Day crowds can be heavy, but the days before and after typically aren't bad since not all schools are out by then. The beginning of May is a lovely time to visit and if you can plan a trip before most schools are out you'll find the crowds to be quite manageable.

May is widely considered one of the best months to visit Walt Disney World in 2026, provided you avoid the very end of the month. The primary "sweet spot" occurs between May 4 and May 21, after the chaotic Spring Break and Easter crowds have subsided but before the summer heat and Memorial Day crowds arrive. During this window, you will experience moderate crowd levels and pleasant weather, with average highs around 88°F (31°C). While afternoon rain becomes more frequent, it hasn't yet reached the intensity of the summer tropical downpours. Additionally, May is the peak of the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, offering stunning topiary displays and unique food kitchens. Prices for "Value" resorts are generally lower in the first half of the month. However, once Memorial Day weekend hits (starting around May 22, 2026), crowds spike significantly as schools begin to let out, so aim for an early-to-mid-month arrival for the most relaxing experience.
