Is morning or afternoon better for whale watching in Maine?

Both departures are the same; there is not one trip that is 'better' than the other. Time of day does not impact whale sightings, as they are active throughout the day.

Both are good, and we have seen whales on both trips quite often. I personally recommend the afternoon or sunset whale watches. This is when the fish are moving towards the surface, so the whales tend to be more active. Every trip and day is different though, and we never quite know what to expect!

Better bet is going from Ptown on cape cod. Shorter trip to the whales and a better chance of seeing a greater varitety of whales. If you can't do that Boston is the better pick.
