Egypt's climate is dry, hot, and dominated by desert. It has a mild winter season with rain falling along coastal areas, and a hot and dry summer season (May to September). Daytime temperatures vary by season and change with the prevailing winds.
Winter sun: December offers a great chance to soak up some winter sun in Morocco. Marrakech enjoys highs of 20°C and seven hours of sunshine a day. Beaches on the Atlantic coastline are still warm enough for sunbathing, although, at temperatures around 19°C, the sea is likely too cold for a dip!
Hurghada is slight cooler than Sharm. If you look on the map Sharm is closed in whereas Hurghada is open. I have been to both. If you look on wunderground and look back at the last 3 years you can see that Hurghada is cooler with a love breeze.
for example, temps are hitting 40degrees in Marrakech today but it is a dry heat with virtually no humidity at all (7%). Whereas Dubai is on the coast so much more humid and you feel sweaty at much lower temps than causes discomfort in Marrakech.
Morocco allows the consumption of alcohol. Alcohol must be purchased and consumed in licensed hotels, bars, and tourist areas. You can also buy alcohol in most major supermarkets. The alcohol section is usually in a separate room from the main supermarket.
Both countries are fantastic and I'm sure you'll have a great time either way... I find Morocco a bit more manageable to do on your own, Marrakech is not as big and intimidating as Cairo, but on the other hand Cairo does have a special energy and personality as well. It's not an easy choice!
Casablanca is a more modern, business-oriented location. It still holds an enormous amount of history and interest, but combines that with bustling streets and a title of Morocco's business capital. Marrakech is a more popular tourist spot, combining phenomenal scenery and architecture with a remarkable history.
