Is North or South Corfu better?

Most people have their own preference. Some like the tranquility of the hilly South of Corfu. Many tourists want to celebrate holiday in the neighbourhood of Corfu Town and other places with a bustling nightlife and beaches like Paleokastritsa, Gouvia or Glyfada.

The west coast of Corfu has some of the most beautiful beaches on the island, such as Paleokastritsa, Glyfada, and Agios Gordios. The east coast also has some lovely beaches, such as Kavos and Ipsos, but they tend to be busier and more touristy.

Corfu Winds In winter cold winds can blow from the north-east and the south, but in the summer the wind is more likely to be a north-westerly. Some of the western coastal resorts are therefore particularly popular with windsurfers and other water sports enthusiasts.

Onto the east side of Corfu! This is the side Corfu Town is on and where we stayed during our trip. The east side beaches are much warmer than the ones on the west side and we found them to be much less touristy.

The best nightlife spots are the seaside resorts of Sidari, Acharavi and Kavos. Some clubs also lie in Corfu Town (mainly located around the Old Town) as well as the coastal areas of Agios Gordios, Gouvia and Dassia.

There won't be any cooling rain showers: Crete has zero rain in July and August. This is one time of year when, contrary to what you might expect, Corfu is actually hotter than Crete. Daytime averages in both July and August are 32ºC, so expect some days to be much hotter.
