Things to visit in Syracuse for a day. Honestly, a single day spend in Syracuse is simply not enough. The city has so much to offer and its beauty and charming coastal alleys and gardens for sure make it a place where you would like to stay for more time.

In my opinion, it's a good idea to stay at least 2 days in Syracuse. It's the time it will take you to visit all the must-see attractions of the city. Syracuse is also a great starting point for day trips.

Where To Stay in Syracuse, Sicily and Ortigia. Most visitors will understandably want to stay on the island of Ortigia as its narrow whitewash streets and closeness to the sea offer the most romantic, alluring setting; most places you'll want to go will also only be a short walk or bicycle ride away.

Depending upon your interests, I would allot 3-4 nights just for those two and then more if taking day trips. A guidebook will provide lots of great information as well as maps and general logistics. We stayed in Ortigia for 2.5 days/3 nights with an afternoon visit to Noto and a day in Siracuse.

For those that haven't yet committed to a flight, there are some key differences between west and east Sicily that you should consider first: Western Sicily has the best beaches. Eastern Sicily has the prettier towns (particularly in the south east corners, such as Noto).
