Is parking easy in Mykonos?

There is a huge public parking area next to the old port as well as parking areas on the outskirts of town, but during peak season finding a parking space is quite a challenge.

Generally speaking, parking in Mykonos is not easy, especially during the peak tourist months of 2026 (June through August). In the main town, Mykonos Town (Chora), the streets are almost entirely pedestrianized and extremely narrow, meaning you cannot drive or park within the town center itself. Visitors must rely on a few designated public lots located on the outskirts, such as the one near the Old Port or the Fabrica bus station. These lots fill up very early in the morning and remain packed until late at night. Many of the island's popular beaches, like Psarou or Paradise, have private parking lots operated by beach clubs, but these can be quite expensive, often costing €20 or more for the day. In 2026, the best strategy is to rent a scooter or an ATV instead of a car, as they are much easier to tuck into small gaps. If you must have a car, ensure your accommodation offers private parking, as hunting for a public spot in the evening can easily take an hour of your vacation time. Illegal parking often results in the local police removing license plates, which is a significant and costly hassle to resolve.
