Is Shades of Green a Disney Deluxe Resort?

Though not operated by Disney, this is a beautiful deluxe resort on Disney property, right across the street from Disney's Polynesian Resort. Rooms are among the most spacious on property, easily sleeping 5 people, and rates (which vary based on your military salary) are very low compared with Disney's Deluxe resorts.

Shades of Green is not officially a Disney-owned resort, but it is frequently described as being "comparable to a Disney Deluxe Resort" in terms of room size and location. It is an Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) located on Walt Disney World property, specifically positioned between the Palm and Magnolia golf courses near the Magic Kingdom. It is exclusively reserved for members of the U.S. military, veterans, and their families. While it is not part of the official Disney Deluxe tier, its rooms are among the largest on property (averaging 480 square feet), which is larger than standard rooms at Disney's Grand Floridian or Contemporary. Guests at Shades of Green do not receive all standard Disney resort perks; for example, they are typically eligible for Early Theme Park Entry but may have different rules for booking Lightning Lane passes compared to those staying at a Disney-owned Deluxe property.
