Is Six Flags New Orleans still up?

Six Flags New Orleans is an abandoned theme park located near the intersection of Interstate 10 and Interstate 510 in New Orleans.

As of February 2026, Six Flags New Orleans is currently being demolished. After standing as a decaying "ghost park" for over 20 years following the devastating floods of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the site is finally being cleared for redevelopment. Demolition crews began the massive task of dismantling the rusted roller coasters and crumbling buildings in late 2024 and early 2025. The developer, Bayou Phoenix, has officially taken control of the land with plans to transform the area into a multi-use complex featuring a movie studio, a water park, a youth sports complex, and a distribution center. While for many years the park was a popular (though illegal) destination for urban explorers and a filming location for movies like Jurassic World, the city has finally moved forward with a permanent solution to remove the "eyesore" of the East New Orleans skyline. By the end of 2026, very few traces of the original "Jazzland" or Six Flags structures will remain as the site transitions into its new chapter.
