Is the A30 an old Roman road?

At Bedfont Lakes, the A30 joins the course of the London - Land's End postal route, becoming London Road for the first time. Still a dual-carriageway, it first passes Ashford Hospital and then Staines Reservoir. This section was originally a Roman road, and is fittingly, completely straight.
