Is the Botanical Garden in Funchal worth visiting?

Really worthwhile doing this ! The gardens were wonderful and as we moved around we sat here and there walking up the hillside and looking over to Monte and down to Funchal. Splendid views. We enjoyed every area of the garden and looked down on the iconic patchwork of foliage plants that is seen so often on postcards .

Most places in Madeira do take cards, but you'll need some cash for buses, and I've heard that some of the cable cars only take cash too (the cable car from the promenade in Funchal does take cards). The small shops and cafes I visited all took cards but it's best to have some money just in case.
