Is The Little Mermaid show still at Disney World?

Voyage of the Little Mermaid When Walt Disney World reopened in July 2020, most live entertainment remained closed. Slowly, shows returned, some with physical distancing changes and smaller casts. But Voyage of the Little Mermaid remain shuttered.

As of 2026, the status of The Little Mermaid at Disney's Hollywood Studios has recently evolved. The original show, "Voyage of the Little Mermaid," which had been a staple since 1992, remained closed for several years following the 2020 park shutdowns. However, Disney officially replaced it with a brand-new production titled "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure." This reimagined show debuted in late 2024/early 2025 in the same Animation Courtyard theater. While it retains the classic songs like "Part of Your World" and "Under the Sea," it features updated technology, new physical sets, and "cutting-edge" puppetry and live performances to bring the story to life for a modern audience. It is a significant upgrade from the previous version, blending live actors with digital effects. Separately, there is the "Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid" ride at Magic Kingdom, which is a completely different attraction (a "dark ride" in a clamshell) and remains open and very popular. So, while the original 90s stage show is gone, a new and improved version of the musical story is currently running and very much a part of the Hollywood Studios lineup.
