Is the Scooby-Doo ride shutting down?

After providing spooks and thrills to 22 million riders, the Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster has temporarily closed for a multi-million dollar upgrade. Planned to reopen in 2025. Stay up to date with the progress of the upgrade by reading our blog!

As of early 2026, the Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster at Warner Bros. Movie World in Australia is not shutting down; in fact, it has recently reopened after a major multi-million-dollar refurbishment. The ride was closed for nearly three years for a total overhaul that included a partial track replacement, a brand-new magnetic braking system, and the installation of modern ride vehicles with state-of-the-art safety harnesses. The upgrade also refreshed the "dark ride" theming and projection mapping to ensure the attraction's longevity for another two decades. While many fans feared a permanent closure during its long absence, the ride returned in late 2025/early 2026 and remains one of the park's most popular family-friendly attractions. At other parks, such as Kings Island, the Scooby-themed rides were rebranded years ago (becoming Boo Blasters on Boo Hill), but the Movie World coaster in Australia is thriving following its recent 2026 "rebirth."
