Unfortunately there are no direct trains from Dublin airport to Belfast. You would need to take a bus (line 784, 782 or 783) from the airport to Tara Station; the bus ride takes 15 minutes and a ticket costs €8.
At Dublin Airport you can purchase your ticket from any Aircoach staff member at the Aircoach departure stand at Terminal 1, Zone 2 and Terminal 2, Zone 20. You may also purchase your ticket from your driver when boarding the coach using cash or contactless payment.
Aircoach is a customised coach with reclining seats, whereas Airlink is just a glorified bus. Most people prefer to pay the Euro 2 exrra for the added comfort after a long flight. If choosing the public transport option, Aircoach is more luxurious but Airlink goes closer to the OP's destination.
Paying on board for bus travel is cash for most services. Using Glider services - you need to buy your ticket before you board at the ticket vending machine (TVM). TVM's are at every Glider halt and you can pay by cash or card. Agent list is correct at time of publishing.
