Is there a dress code for the Rocky Mountaineer?

Dress onboard Rocky Mountaineer is smart casual. We suggest that you wear comfortable, cool layers as the dome coaches have expansive windows.

There is no formal dress code for the Rocky Mountaineer luxury train; the atmosphere is described as "smart casual" and comfortable. Since the journey is spent primarily sitting in glass-domed coaches and admiring the Canadian Rockies, the priority for guests should be comfort and layers. The temperature inside the train is climate-controlled, but it can fluctuate depending on your proximity to the windows or the air conditioning. Furthermore, if you are in the GoldLeaf service, you will be moving between the upper seating deck and the lower dining area, so flat, comfortable shoes are highly recommended for safety while the train is in motion. While some guests choose to dress up slightly for dinner, most wear comfortable slacks, jeans, polo shirts, or sweaters. It is also important to remember that you will be staying in hotels overnight in towns like Kamloops or Quesnel, so you should pack attire suitable for a standard hotel restaurant. Overall, the Rocky Mountaineer experience is designed to be a relaxing, high-end vacation where the "view" is the star, and passengers are encouraged to wear whatever allows them to best enjoy the spectacular scenery without feeling restricted by formal attire.
