Is there a new amusement park coming to Ohio?

Developers are about to break ground on a new amusement park outside of Columbus, Ohio. Planet Oasis Ohio is investing $2 billion in the park project, the Detroit Free Press reported. It will be built on 350 acres of land in Sunbury, or about four times the current size of Disneyland.

As of March 2026, while there is no "major" new theme park on the scale of Cedar Point being built from scratch, there is significant expansion and rebranding in the regional sector. The most notable development is the transformation of Kirkwood Camp & Adventure Park into The Acres at Kirkwood, which is debuting expanded attractions and enhanced "adventure play" zones for the 2026 season. Additionally, 2026 marks a major operational shift for Ohio's giants, Kings Island and Cedar Point, as they have now fully integrated into the merged Six Flags-Cedar Fair portfolio. This has resulted in the "Regional Gold Pass," allowing Ohio residents seamless access to multiple parks across the Midwest. While rumors of a large-scale "Mattel Adventure Park" or similar IP-based parks often circulate in the Midwest, the 2026 focus for Ohio remains the multi-million dollar refurbishments of existing landmarks, such as the refreshed Starbucks and Boardwalk areas at Cedar Point, rather than the construction of a brand-new standalone park.
