In the end, Splash Mountain met its demise as the story behind the ride's theme was not right for Disney's image. Splash Mountain featured the Song of the South story of plantation life that resonated as distasteful and needed to be replaced.

Currently, Disney has not announced any plans to build in Texas. However, with Universal creating a park in Frisco, Texas, it will be interesting to see if other brands follow suit. For now, we'll keep an eye on all of Disney projects around the globe!

This weekend at Destination D23 in Walt Disney World, Josh D'Amaro announced that changes are coming to Animal Kingdom.
