St. Maarten, like much of the Caribbean, does have a distinct rainy season that typically runs from June through November. This period coincides exactly with the Atlantic hurricane season. During these months, the island experiences higher humidity and more frequent rainfall, though it rarely rains all day. Instead, you are more likely to encounter short, intense tropical downpours followed by bright sunshine. The peak of the "wet" activity usually occurs in September and October. In contrast, the "dry" season from December to April is the most popular time for tourists, offering lower humidity and cooler, more consistent temperatures. Even during the rainy season, St. Maarten remains a viable destination because the rain helps keep the island lush and green, and travel costs are often significantly lower. However, visitors should always monitor weather forecasts for tropical depressions or storms that can occasionally disrupt travel plans during the late summer and autumn.
