Is there a water taxi from Toronto to Niagara Falls?

Unfortunately, just a ferry runs between Toronto and Toronto Island, not between Toronto and Niagara Falls. A few attempts were made in the past, and they all failed. However, by 2024, there's a chance we'll be able to enjoy a ferry service from Toronto's waterfront to the lower Niagara Peninsula.

As of early 2026, there is no direct water taxi or ferry service that travels across Lake Ontario from downtown Toronto to Niagara Falls. The "Toronto Harbour Water Taxi" services only the Toronto Islands and the immediate harbor area. For those looking to reach Niagara Falls from Toronto, the most common methods remain the GO Train (Niagara Falls line), which runs seasonally and on weekends, or luxury motorcoach tours. While there have been various historical proposals for "hovercraft" or high-speed ferry links, none are currently operational. Travelers usually opt for a 1.5 to 2-hour drive or a organized day-trip bus that includes a boat cruise (like Niagara City Cruises) once you actually arrive at the falls.
