Is there an age limit for roller coasters?

There is no set age, but you tend not to see many people in their 60s and older on roller coasters.

There is generally no maximum age limit for riding roller coasters, as long as the rider is in good physical health and meets the height requirements. Theme parks focus on physical suitability rather than a specific number of years lived. In 2024, a world record was even set at the Swedish park Liseberg for the highest average age on a coaster—80.1 years—on the Valkyria dive coaster. However, most parks provide safety warnings advising against riding if you have high blood pressure, heart, back, or neck problems, or if you are pregnant. As people age, the body's ability to handle the "G-forces" and rapid directional changes can diminish, leading to increased risk of dizziness or soreness. While a healthy 80-year-old can certainly enjoy a coaster, most riders find that they may need to limit the number of consecutive rides to avoid the physical strain that becomes more pronounced later in life.
