Is there bacteria in Lake Conroe?

At the time of the report, Lake Conroe was one of five or fewer bodies of water -- including every bayou, stream, river and lake in the Houston area -- that were not classed as impaired by bacteria or toxins. Lake Conroe's levels are low enough that we did not make the impaired list, Houston said.

There are several aquatic snakes that hang around the lake, including nerodia, broad-banded, yellow-bellied and water moccasin water snakes, Harbison-Ragan said.
