Is there WiFi on German ICE trains?

Free Wi-Fi has been available on ICEs since 2017. Now it's being rolled out to the Intercity fleet. Since summer 2019, DB has been making wireless internet avialable on its Intercity trains. Free Wi-Fi will be available on the entire long distance fleet by the end of 2021.

Yes, free WiFi is available on all Deutsche Bahn (DB) ICE (Intercity-Express) trains in 2026. The service, branded as "WIFI@DB," is available to passengers in both First and Second Class. First Class passengers typically enjoy "Premium" access with higher bandwidth and no data caps, while Second Class passengers have a standard free tier that is perfectly sufficient for browsing, email, and social media. The system uses multi-provider technology that bundles LTE and 5G signals from various German networks to provide the most stable connection possible at high speeds. To connect, you simply select the network on your device and accept the terms on the landing page. In addition to internet access, the WiFi portal (ICE Portal) offers free entertainment, including movies, news, and digital magazines. While coverage is generally excellent, you may still experience brief "dead zones" when the train passes through certain tunnels or remote mountainous regions of the German countryside.
