Is Tokyo Disney too crowded?

Crowds at Tokyo Disney Resort are high, but as a general rule, avoid the weekends and national holidays and visit Tuesday through Friday. The hotels are generally cheaper during this time too.

Tokyo Disney Resort (comprising Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea) is famously one of the most visited and consistently crowded theme park destinations in the world. In 2026, the "feels like" crowd levels are reportedly higher than pre-2020 levels, largely due to the massive popularity of the Fantasy Springs expansion at DisneySea and the record-breaking numbers of international tourists visiting Japan. Unlike the U.S. parks, Tokyo Disney attracts a very high percentage of "local regulars" who visit frequently, leading to long lines for everything from popcorn to restrooms, even on weekdays. However, the resort is renowned for its extreme efficiency and the legendary politeness of the guests, which makes the crowds more manageable than they might be elsewhere. To avoid the worst of it, visitors are advised to avoid Japanese public holidays, "Golden Week," and weekends. Using the official app to secure Standby Passes and Disney Premier Access (paid fast-pass) for the most popular rides is now a requirement for a successful visit. While it is undoubtedly crowded, many fans argue the world-class service and unique attractions still make it worth the wait.
