Is Tower of Terror taller than the castle?

What most people do not realize, though, is that these restrictions were changed to 200 feet by the time The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (1994) and Animal Kingdom roller coaster, Expedition Everest (1998), were built, so they are both taller than Magic Kingdom's famous castle.

Yes, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios is taller than Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom. The Tower of Terror stands at exactly 199 feet tall, while Cinderella Castle is approximately 189 feet tall. Disney Imagineers specifically design their tallest structures to stay just under the 200-foot mark because FAA regulations require any building 200 feet or taller to display a flashing red aviation beacon, which would ruin the immersive "fairytale" or "Old Hollywood" theming. Other structures in this "199-foot club" include Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom. While the castle appears massive due to "forced perspective" (the bricks and windows get smaller as the building goes higher), the Tower of Terror is physically the second-tallest structure at Walt Disney World, surpassed only by the 199.5-foot Expedition Everest mountain.
