In 2026, Traditional Dining is an exclusive, complimentary benefit specifically for guests traveling in Private Sleeping Rooms (Roomettes, Bedrooms, or Suites) on most long-distance routes, such as the California Zephyr and Empire Builder. For these passengers, three-course meals including a warm breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the price of the ticket. However, for travelers in Coach Class, traditional dining is generally not accessible; these guests instead have access to the Café Car, where meals and snacks are available for purchase. On some "Flexible Dining" routes, even sleeper car guests receive a more limited pre-packaged menu rather than the "Traditional" chef-prepared meals.
