Is US Airways a Star Alliance?

The airline became the 15th member of the Star Alliance on May 4, 2004.

US Airways is no longer a member of the Star Alliance, nor does it exist as an independent airline in 2026. Historically, US Airways was a member of the Star Alliance from 2004 until early 2014. Following its high-profile merger with American Airlines, the carrier officially left the Star Alliance on March 30, 2014, to join the oneworld alliance, aligning with its new parent company. By 2015, the US Airways brand was fully retired, and all operations were integrated under the American Airlines name. Today, if you are looking for the major U.S. representative within the Star Alliance, that role is held exclusively by United Airlines. Travelers who previously used US Airways for Star Alliance benefits now utilize American Airlines for oneworld perks or United for Star Alliance connectivity. The legacy of US Airways remains part of aviation history, but its alliance affiliation ended over a decade ago as part of the massive consolidation of the American domestic airline market.
