Was Canterbury Cathedral used in Harry Potter?

Canterbury Cathedral could have been an integral Hogwarts filming location for the globally-adored series, but authorities refused Warner Bros permission to shoot at the historic place of worship. Durham Cathedral was instead used, with the cloisters regularly being spotted on screen.

Possibly the most exciting part of the experience was being able to see the Hogwarts castle model (Alnwick Castle was also used). It fills a large room with viewing platforms all the way around it. What is this? The studio is located just outside London and has plenty of car parking.
