Was the Tower of Terror demolished?

As of Thursday morning, the tower was reduced to a pile of dirt and stones. Demolition turned the sentimental favorite into an overnight memory, shifted to another dimension. The structure, a sort of vertical billboard, was installed in the mid-1990s.

No, the original Twilight Zone Tower of Terror was not demolished, but the version at Disney California Adventure was "rethemed" or transformed. In 2017, the California version closed and was converted into Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout!, which remains a flagship attraction of the Avengers Campus in 2026. However, the original Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida is still fully operational and continues to be one of the park's most iconic and popular rides. Additionally, the versions in Tokyo DisneySea and Walt Disney Studios Park (Paris) remain active, though the Paris version underwent a significant "New Dimension of Chills" update in 2019. While the "Twilight Zone" branding was removed from the California location to make room for Marvel, the physical tower structure remains a permanent part of the park's skyline.
